Joan was born in Red Cross Street, Wolverhampton on the 27th January 1919. Her Mother was a Talioress and her Father a Baker.

She happily married a second time to George Ernest Tedstill, a short time after they had three children together; Roger, Peter and Valerie.
Joan, back then, worked at the Eveready. She also used to do shows for charity doing the Can-can at Springfield Road Working Men's Club and travelling around the city.

Joan then began to work at ST.Peters Colligate School for Girls, where she was often called into the office by the headmistress for silly antics with her mates especially one in particular, Pam.
Sadly, her husband, George passed away at an early age in 1969 of a heart attack. Leaving Joan a young widow. Roger married, Peter joined the RAF, leaving just Valerie and herself.
